2. So! I took a break. But I've been doing a lot of reading in the meantime. It's amazing how much the way I read has changed. I'm going back and rereading some of my favorite fantasy novels of the past. See how they do it, what made me love them so much. So I'm going to do some research for an idea I got out last week. I've gotten a lot of ideas lately even though I haven't been writing as much.
3. I'm doing some research on native peoples that live in tribes. Also on those people's philosophies, shamans/magic users, their folklore, blah blah blah. Something to kind of base what I'm thinking of on.
4. Ok. So It's 9 o' clock right now. I've been alternately watching tv and doing research. I'm watching the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen now. Fun stuff. I know one day I want to write a book that's a spin off of someone else's more minor character but for now I don't know who so I'll wait and see. Grendel is BRILLIANT. I love John Gardner. I want to read something of his soon.... Anyway I'm off topic. I figured out that the Xavier world is going to be *drumroll please* steampunk! It solves my problem of technology and when to set it. Read the literary blog if you want more info on how I decided. Anyway, so that's basically all that's come of this so far.
5. I might write some tomorrow. I need to work on the Merlin story a bit. It depends though on all the other stuff I do which basically means I doubt it'll happen. Shit well I'll get some done this weekend hopefully. Maybe some new nonfiction since I'm going to a family reunion. That would be interesting. I crazy family. Crazy catholic that is.
I almost forgot my writers quote of the day. I really want this book by John Gardner, On Becoming a Novelist. This is the first line of it:
"Nearly every beginning writer sooner or later asks (or wishes he dared ask) his creative writing teacher, or someone else he thinks might know, whether or not he really has what it takes to be a writer."
So teacher, Do I have what it takes? lol.
