Short stories vs. Novels

I think they're like relationships. Which makes sense why I keep being told I'm better at novels. I'm a commitment kind of person, which is why I don't date casually usually equaling at all. (I promise I don't intend for these things to get all emo and personal. It just happens.) Short story are like a one night stand gratifying at the time and then you can move on to something else. To quote Blair from Gossip Girl like a Kleenex that you use once then throw away. I feel like the process of writing a novel is a lot like an involved relationship. Always trying to make the other person change to fit what you have in mind then when you let go it either works itself out or you drift apart with unfinished business. And it can be like that boyfriend that you finally had to dump because no matter how much you loved him, you didn't like him anymore and he didn't make you happy but he's always there nagging in your mind, maybe if you just picked it up again it would work this time. But that's a story that you lost interest in for a reason.

lol. I think one day when I actually have credentials to be writing a book about writing I'm going to do a nonfiction romance writing manual. Giving writing and relationship advice at the same time. How fun? Don't steal my idea! I'm looking on amazon to see if such a hybrid exists. So far I've found a book about being a mother and a writer, also a book about creative writing if you've been in an abusive relationship, I think some stories can be abusive but it's only paper right? You should just lock it in a drawer. Especially if it's afraid of the dark. Why men marry bitches, oh but that's not about writing. It just looked interesting. Although I've not quite jumped off that particular cliff yet where all your friends are getting married and you're still not. I'm getting close to it though tis the season for engagements. I'm sure I'll still be that bitter, cynical single person just at a wedding so my black and foul outlook on love will cloud such a happy event therefore starting my ploy for world power. Oh oh. When God Writes Your Love Story. Oh but there only God gets to do the writing. It's not about writing too. The guide to Romance Writing was as close as I came literally to my chosen future book topic. The God writing your love story one the closest metaphorically. I think I've found something!

What do you think? Does this sound interesting? Would writers read it, would lovers read it and want to write? Or at least still get something out of it. I guess writers who need relationship advice is a small audience to write to. We'll see. I need those credentials first so yeah... back to the grindstone!
Oh! and writer's guild has 15 participants now. The number went up with people who couldn't make it last week but want to come this week. WOOT! And none of the 23 people on my mailing list have asked to be taken off yet so maybe they'll be enticed to start going to. Gotta run!
