I'm going to make my predictions although I'll probably be wrong. Since I don't actually watch all these shows. So I'll probably pick the ones that I do watch just because those are my favorites. I'll try to be as objective as possible (which isn't much).
Outstanding Comedy Series: The Office, or 30 Rock, I don't watch the later but it looks funny. I can only watch so many sitcoms a season. Not enough time. Although I have started to watch back episodes of How I Met Your Mother which is hilarious! Also I didn't know Entourage was a comedy...
Btw. I'm watching the recap online from enews as I'm typing. So having said that. YAY FOR PUSHING DAISIES!!!!! I'm so excited hopefully this means it'll come back. I love loved it. All the characters were great and the actors brilliant. So glad they got so many nominations. 12 to be exact!!!
I will shoot myself if Ryan Seacrest wins for Reality TV Show Host(which is a bogus category, I can't believe Cat Deeley didn't get a nom. I think she's great on SYTYCD.)
Best Drama: I want House to win but I think Mad Men will get it again. I think its so funny to hear Hugh Laurie speak with his regular accent. I heard him say once acting with an American accent is like trying batting left handed if you're not. Oh Hugh. What a hunk.
And I need to start watching The View apparently. Ok e online lied. They didn't show all the nominations. Hold on I'm going to find a list... Hmm. Maybe this is a too complete list but I'll go through all of it anyway just for funsies.
Outstanding Animated Program: Robot Chicken! I saw an episode once and it was strangely funny. So that's who I'm pulling for.
I said Emmy Picks in the title. I'll stick with that. These aren't my predictions but who I think should win. We'll see if any of them get it.
Outstanding Art Direction For A Miniseries: Tin Man! It looks awesome. I saw a few of the episodes when they ran it and my roommate has to full thing so I rewatched it recently. Plus who doesn't love Zooey Deshcanel? Music tip, check out her band She and Him. Very loveable pop stuff. I like it a lot.
Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series: Pushing Daisies! Like I said earlier all the actors in it are great for the characters so obviously its due to great casting. I think being a casting director would be a fun job.
Outstanding Choreography: Anyone from So You Think You Can Dance but I'm pulling for Shane Sparks. They took almost all the noms. lol. Because that show is amazing!
Outstanding Cinematography For Nonfiction Programming- Meerkat Manor. Apparently college students really love this show... They get like really into. I've never seen it before but I've heard people talk about it. lol. *shrug* Who knew?
Sidenote: I'm skipping over a lot of the more random but not less important ones like costume, etc.
Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series: Flight of the Conchords!!!!!!! Love love love. These are all great. I've seen most of the episodes on youtube but my friend Matt has them all on DVD. Most fun. Sidenote, they won a grammy for best comedy album from songs they did on this series.
Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program: The Colbert Report!!! Just because he's amazing. Or The Daily Show because that's how I get all my honest political news. They're the only ones who tell the truth anymore. Because the truth is a novelty!
Outstanding Hairstyling For A Miniseries Or A Movie: Tin Man! I'm only mentioning this one because truly the hair (and they're also up for best costume which they should win) is amazing! Very well done. It still held that Oz-esque type fantastique but pushed it into the 21st century.
Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality - Competition Program: Heidi Klum! And not just because I watch that show and love it. But she actually gets to help judge too, she has skills. Doesn't just look stupid or say stupid things (*cough* Ryan).
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series: Yay!! Lee Pace as Ned in Pushing Daises. This is actually a really complex comedic character he's playing. And he does it very well.
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series: Hugh Laurie!!!! as House in House. lol. He's great! I mean with all the new characters coming and going last season he really had to step up the acting and hold the show together until he got the new team in there so we could start to connect to them. He's brilliant as well.
Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series: I hope Sally Field gets it for Brothers and Sisters. My mom watches the show. I've only ever seen one episode. Where I almost got in a fight with my parents because they were uncomfortable that the gay brother was getting married. Good-ness. Don't get me started. But anyway. I HATE Holly Hunter in Saving Grace. Oh my gawd!!!! Bleh. And Kyra Sedgwick gets on my nerves.
Outstanding Miniseries: Well obviously you can tell I'm going to say Tin Man. I hope it gets it!!! Go SCI FI CHANNEL!!! Have you seen their mini series The Lost Room? I loved that one too. I thought it was really well done and ended kinda abruptly. I wanted it to have more episodes. You can rent that on DVD too.
Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics: Obviously one of the Flight of the Conchords' songs is going to win. But I put this on here to say what kind of idiot nominated a kids song with such HORRIBLE grammar!!! "I Ain't Got No Rhythm" Wow. Just wow. That person should be shot. And the Disney person who allowed that song to be written should be shot too.
Outstanding Reality Program: Ok for the competition one that was right above this I choose Project Runway of course. But this category I'm very torn between Antiques Roadshow, because I mean seriously that show has been trucking along for EVER (when they came to Houston my mom, aunt, and I definitely went on it, we didn't make it on tv but you can briefly see me walk by on camera behind someone they were filming lol) or Dirty Jobs OR Kathy Griffin. I think I'm going to have to go with Kathy Griffin. Because her show is hilarious.
Almost done I promise! I know I want to go to bed and quit typing but I'm going to see this through!
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series: Well I like Neil Patrick Harris in How I Met Your Mother but really who can beat Dwight? He's like the comedic highlight of The Office other than Steve Carell as Michael Scott, whom I can't believe didn't get a nom for main actor in a comedy series.
Ok. And I want to comment on all the best writing categories but I've only seen the episode of Pushing Daises. I think all the writing for Pushing Daises is great. No really it is. And... I think the writing for The Daily Show is still better than the Colbert Report. Sorry Stephen. I like you better though.
THAT'S IT FOLKS!!
